Blog Hop (4)

Book Blogger Hop

This week's question comes from Jen B. who blogs at I Read Banned Books:

"Do you ever wish you would have named your blog something different?"

When I thought of a blog name I played around with alliteration, but nothing seemed to fit. Then I saw my broken book light on the table. My BFF always picks on me for using a flashlight to read at night. (She's the one that bought me the book light for a Christmas present.) Old habits die hard, I guess. I still use a flashlight to read. It's cheaper to replace batteries than to buy a whole new light when the kiddos break/lose them. Plus, I now have a super cute pink flashlight all to myself. =)

So, in answer to the question, I think the blog name fits me. For those that know me well enough, they can appreciate the humor in the name.

I am going to post something "extra" on this blog hop. I'm starting a lunch time book club with some preteens at school. WE NEED A BOOK CLUB NAME. I can't think of anything that would fit my very diverse group of readers. Please help!

Share your current fav television show! Tell us a bit about it...

Watch t.v.? Boo. Wish I had time... I might catch the news once in a while. Of course, I didn't know about Egypt until two days after the revolt started. I really don't watch television. =/ I should probably sign up for the newspaper.

  5. What's in a name? Everything! A name is a label, a description and a promise. I'm very happy with mine - "Howard Sherman, Implementor" but it was quite a journey to get there.

Hop on over to my blog and find out why - http://www.howardsherman.net

  7. New follower.

30 Rock rocks. How can you not love a show that coins phrases like...

"I want to go to there."

"I love this cornbread so much I wanna take it behind a middle school and get it pregnant."

    "What the what!"

    "I can't eat this, I'm a foodie."

"I'm wearing a tux 'cause its after six. What am I, a farmer?"

"Oh my god, where are my manners? Do you wanna try meth?"

"I never sleep on planes. I don't wanna get 'incepted.'"

    "Goodnight cheese."

"First of all, I look weird there because I'm snarting."

Ok. You have to be a fan after "snarting". That's a sneeze fart.

  10. Hopping through for the weekend. I've never used a flashlight to read...probably because I 'm a stickler for reading books with both hands (so I don't break the spine). Course, I also don't have anyone to protest my leaving the light on while I read. Maybe when I get to that point...

As far as book club names, I'm not sure what to suggest. You could try something having to do with the school mascot...or pick something having to do with one of the first books they read together. Best of luck with that.

    Have a great weekend!

This week's question: Do you have any furry friends?

These are my fur babies:

This is what it often looks like while I'm busy working. As you can tell, productivity is high.

This is Lilly waiting for her boys to come home. She'll spend the entire day just like this if she's not sleeping next to me in my office.

This is Roscoe. AKA The Boss. He runs the show around here. And yes, he has a sweater AND a coat for cold weather.

Armchair BEA 2012 Introductions (day 1)

First, let me start off by saying that I am very excited to be participating in Armchair BEA this year. Since this is the first day of the weeklong event, here are my answers to the interview questions:

Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Well, the answer the first part of that question, I am a middle school Language Arts teacher in Florida (and probably one of the only people in a coastal city that hates the beach). I’ve been married to my hubby for 10 years and have 2 boys. My house is a constant zoo and I’m turning 30 in a few months. There is a mid-life crisis in my near future, I’m sure, but I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.
I started blogging in December of 2011 out of necessity. Seriously. My students know how easily I am distracted when they ask me about books (I eventually caught on to their tactics), so I started blogging out of a need for more teaching time. (I should go ahead and mention that I never talked books all day—even…
