Book Blogger Hop

The Friday Book Bog Hop is a weekly meme hosted by Crazy-for-books. This week's question is: "If you find a book you love, do you hunt down other books by the same author?"

Who doesn't do this? =)  I have a story about this... A few years ago I came across Tamora Pierce's Alanna series at Borders. I had never heard of her (shocking, I know!) but since my name is Alanna, I just HAD to buy the books. After all, an entire series with a character that has my name? Too cool! The books sat on my shelf for a couple of years, unread. During one of our annual trips to Mississippi for Thanksgiving, I decided to take two of the books along. I had no idea how great they were! Needless to say both were finished before we hit Alabama. I made my husband stop at every bookstore from Alabama to Mississippi so I could try to find the rest of the series. I didn't care that I already had them at home! When I finished that series, I couldn't stop. Tamora Pierce is awesome. I bought and read every book that had or mentioned the Alanna character. So yes, if I like a book by one author I will certainly buy others by the same author.

Follow Friday is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee's View. This week's question is: What is on your current playlist right now?

This question came just in time! My co-worker has been trying to get me to run with her, but I've been really lazy. However, I just started attempting to train for a 5K that she convinced me to sign up for. With that being said, I actually have a playlist now! I always have music on my iPod, but nothing that I specifically seek out to listen to. Now, I'm on a mission to find good "running" music. This is what I've got so far (please don't laugh at the odd mix of songs!) :

1. Tootsie Roll by 69 Boys from '94    LOL-- I don't even listen to Hip-Hop on a regular day, but this song is great for the final 5 minutes on a stair stepper
2. Dirty Little Secret by The All-American Rejects
3. Last Night by Skillet (I LOVE them!)
4. Fortune Teller by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss
5. Because the Night by Pat Benetar
6. Walk This Way by Aerosmith

I am currently accepting suggestions for other "running" music. I'm open to anything with a good beat to motivate me! =)

Comments

  1. My favorite song to run to is "Humble Neighborhoods" by P!NK. It has just a great beat for my running pace (especially at the end of a run when I need to push to finish). Sometimes I start my run with P!NK's "Get This Party Started"...just for fun. I can't think of what else is on my running iPod! (hmm...I guess that shows it's been a couple of weeks since I ran...)

    Happy Friday!

  2. Hi Alanna, great story about finding your love for Tamora Pierce! I have never read anything by her but it sounds like I'm going to have to now :)

Oh yeah, I have to listen to running music too, and gotta love those 90's dance tunes! I was always a big fan of Real McCoy ("Another Night" and "Runaway") and Ace of Base (I totally had their album)

I always like running to the get-up-and-move classics like Britney Spears, N'Sync and Backstreet Boys-- they're catchy, tacky, and just plain fun! Newer stuff I have on my work-out playlist includes Ke$ha, Lady Gaga, Kim Sozzi, Adam Lambert, Jay Sean and Kaskade.

Hope you're having a great weekend! Good luck training for your 5K!

A time when great men like Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Nicola Tesla, and George Eastman work to turn the country into a mechanical-electrical-industrial marvel: a land of limitless opportunity. And it all happens at the world famous Inventors Guild headquarters in New York City—a place where a great idea, a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck can find you rubbing elbows with these gods of industry who will usher humanity into the bright promise of the future.
Unless, of course, you’re a woman.
Molly Pepper, daughter of brilliant but unknown inventor Cassandra Pepper, lives with her mother in New York. By day, they make ends meet running a small pickle shop; but by night, they toil and dream of Cassandra shattering the glass ceiling of the Inventors Guild and taking her place among the most famous inventors in America. This week's question: Do you have any furry friends?

These are my fur babies:

This is what it often looks like while I'm busy working. As you can tell, productivity is high.

This is Lilly waiting for her boys to come home. She'll spend the entire day just like this if she's not sleeping next to me in my office.

This is Roscoe. AKA The Boss. He runs the show around here. And yes, he has a sweater AND a coat for cold weather.
