In My Mailbox (16)

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by The Story Siren to showcase all the books we have bought, borrowed, or received during the week.

For Review:

The Odd Job SquadThe best way to get even is to get Odd... Thirteen-year-old Ander Cartwright is an expert on two subjects: fortune cookies and payback. Especially payback. When he’s not struggling with algebra, Ander leads an anonymous revenge club that operates within the walls of Marina Middle School. Got a beef with a classmate? Email Ander’s crew and, if your case if legit, they’ll get even on your behalf. It’s not easy to right wrongs and fly under the radar at the same time. That’s why Ander developed three simple rules designed to help him and his friends stay incognito. But when Ander spots the opportunity to settle a score of his own, he ignores the rules, setting off a chain of events that threatens to blow his cover, and it’ll take all the butt-kicking, detention-dodging skill the guys can muster to keep a lid on their secret.
I have to admit that this book sounds adorable. I'm actually looking forward to reading it.
GamersTwo points for brushing your teeth. Ten points for keeping your room tidy. Seventy-two points for the Bioeconomic Game Design pop quiz on the ride to school in your personal FunCar. Another thirty for making every hurdle in gym class. Life is a game, unless you're not the one winning. When Gabby DeCorte, top student and reality-hacker extraordinaire, learns the truth about LifeGame, she must choose between winning and what she believes in.

So I've already read and reviewed this awesome sci-fi book. You should certainly check it out. The synopsis from Amazon/Goodreads does NOT do this book justice.

The only thing that mattered to Sollara was escaping the Deep Kingdom and exploring the world she had only ever dared to dream about. But when her dreams clash with her reality, she awakes in the arms of a handsome stranger, somewhere in an unknown and magical land. Not knowing who her enemies or allies are, she turns to those she was raised to despise for help.

All she had was her soul and she was determined to keep it.

I just finished reading this one too. The review will be coming shortly. It was wicked crazy cool. The synopsis doesn't even begin to tell about the craziness in this book. If you're a paranormal or mythology fan, this is the book for you!

This week's question: Do you have any furry friends?

These are my fur babies:

This is what it often looks like while I'm busy working. As you can tell, productivity is high.

This is Lilly waiting for her boys to come home. She'll spend the entire day just like this if she's not sleeping next to me in my office.

This is Roscoe. AKA The Boss. He runs the show around here. And yes, he has a sweater AND a coat for cold weather.

Armchair BEA 2012 Introductions (day 1)

First, let me start off by saying that I am very excited to be participating in Armchair BEA this year. Since this is the first day of the weeklong event, here are my answers to the interview questions:

Who are you? How long have you been blogging? Why did you get into blogging?
Well, the answer the first part of that question, I am a middle school Language Arts teacher in Florida (and probably one of the only people in a coastal city that hates the beach). I’ve been married to my hubby for 10 years and have 2 boys. My house is a constant zoo and I’m turning 30 in a few months. There is a mid-life crisis in my near future, I’m sure, but I wouldn’t trade any of it for the world.
I started blogging in December of 2011 out of necessity. Seriously. My students know how easily I am distracted when they ask me about books (I eventually caught on to their tactics), so I started blogging out of a need for more teaching time. (I should go ahead and mention that I never talked books all day—even…
