The Adventures of Augusta Wind

Augusta Webster thought she was an ordinary girl living an ordinary life in an ordinary town. But that was before the Snabbit - half-snake/half-rabbit - arrived to turn Augusta's world upside down and reveal that she's anything but ordinary. A new all-ages fantasy from J.M. DeMatteis, creator of Abadazad, with astonishing art by Vassilis Gogtizilas.

Ok, so this isn't a traditional picture book. It has pictures and it is a book, so....

I had a hard time getting this one to work on my Kindle, so I had to read from the computer. That posed a certain problem since I couldn't get the font to enlarge enough to read with ease. So I was stuck looking at pictures and squinting at words here and there. I could tell it would appeal to fans of Alice in Wonderland. As for the plot, however, I have no idea. The squinting gave me a headache.

Knowing this, you might be wondering why I chose to highlight it as a Picture Book Saturday book. Well, to be honest, it was the illustrations. They were great! The colors were dark and mysterious in some places (they seemed to glow!). The faces on the characters were very detailed. I really enjoyed just looking at the images. So that was enough to make me share it. I think any fan of Alice in Wonderland would enjoy Augusta Wind..

Unless, of course, you’re a woman.

This week's question: Do you have any furry friends?

These are my fur babies:

This is what it often looks like while I'm busy working. As you can tell, productivity is high.

This is Lilly waiting for her boys to come home. She'll spend the entire day just like this if she's not sleeping next to me in my office.

This is Roscoe. AKA The Boss. He runs the show around here. And yes, he has a sweater AND a coat for cold weather.
