Question of the week:
Do you believe audio books are the future and why do believe?
I might be one of the few people out there that say they dislike audio books. I've tried them on several occasions and I just cannot enjoy them. If I listen while driving, I fall asleep. If I listen while walking on the treadmill, I don't forget I'm on the treadmill. The only time I've ever used audio books was in the classroom as a teacher. I would get audio versions of any book I owned for the kids. Mainly so multiple kids could listen at one time in our reading center. It seemed to work well for kids that struggled with reading. But for me personally, no way.
I think audio books run the risk of taking away the joy of imagining how you visualize a character. An actor/actress will bring their own voice and style to the part and if it doesn't mesh with what I've imagined a character to sound like then I get upset.
